Dear Parents and
Students,
January 25, 2010
It is time once again for our annual 4th grade miniature state float project! I referred to this project on our summer home visits and in the 4th grade parent guide. This is always an exciting project for the children and I look forward to another successful year of floats.
In February, the children are choosing their states, collecting information on index cards, drawing thumbnail designs of their floats, and collecting materials for their finished project. This will be combined into a mini-book. Mini-books are due by Thursday, February 18. Here are the guidelines:
After the mini-books are complete, it is time to assemble the floats. Then the fun begins! You may help your child as little or as much as you like. This may be a cooperative effort, or you may prefer to allow your child to do everything alone.
Here are
some general guidelines:

1. Size: No smaller than a shoebox. No larger than a student desk top.
2. Materials: Anything! Be creative!
3. Due Date: Friday, March 19. Floats may be brought to school anytime on or after Monday, March15. They will be on display in the lunchroom. Floats may be taken home any time the week of March 29-31.
4. The float may be stationary. It does not have to be on wheels.
5. Information: The float must contain at least ten informative facts about the state. Information must be labeled. Include your mini-book with your float.
6. Make this a fun, learning experience! Enjoy!
Mrs. Wrobel
